Do You Charge For Estimates?
All estimates are free of charge from all of our arborists. An evaluation is a formal write up or assessment of a tree or number of trees on a property that does not result in any further tree services to be performed. An estimate is a proposal that is given to our customers that can result in tree or landscape services to be performed upon arrival of estimate.
How long does it take for an estimate?
Generally it takes 3 to 5 days to receive an estimate. However, depending on the time of year, weather, amount of work scheduled and type of estimate needed; it could take a couple of weeks to receive it.
How long does it take to schedule the job once estimate is accepted?
Generally it takes anywhere from a few days to a month depending on the same circumstances mentioned above.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. We are fully insured to perform work in VA. We can have our insurance company provide you with a certificate of insurance via email or USPS. For commercial work, we can add your company as an additional insured. We are insured more than the average for liability and workman's compensation insurance. It's important to note that when requesting a certificate of insurance from any tree care professional, make sure it comes from the insurance company; and not just a copy they may carry around.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all methods of payment including cash, check, credit card (VISA, Mastercard, AMEX). You can mail a check to 6407 Union Mills Rd., Troy, VA 22974. We do not ask for payment until all work is complete.
Do you use spikes to prune trees?
No, we do not use spikes to climb live trees for pruning. This is a big no no in the tree industry. This occurred a lot in the 80's and unfortunately it still occurs today. This is a great question to ask and we ask that our customers always ensure that whoever they hire to make sure that spikes are not used when pruning - only removals.
Do you top trees?
No, topping trees is also a big no no in the tree industry. Topping trees is bad because it alters the branch structure and integrity of the limbs causing weak branches. Topping is deceiving because at first sight it might appear that the tree is safer, however, in the long run it has serious negative consequences. DON'T TOP TREES!
When is the best time to prune trees?
Anytime is really a good time to prune trees. Most trees are best to prune before bud break, however it's generally ok to prune trees anytime of the year. We don't usually recommend pruning evergreen trees unless they are smaller such as Holly or hedge shrubs to be shaped with hands hears. Larger evergreens generally should not be cut. Deciduous trees can be pruned anytime. Make sure the tree company only prunes by the ANSI A300 tree pruning standards.
